Obtaining certainty about the expected performance of a (new) application in a production environment is no longer a question of extrapolating the application’s behavior in a test environment.  It can now be objectively measured and exactly calculated.

Application Stress Test
Using the Foglight Transaction Recorder we can build robots that simulate user transactions in a test environment. By systematically increasing the number of robots and the transaction intervals it becomes possible to conduct a full scale stress test.  Other components of Foglight measure the impact on performance. This approach eliminates the need for large numbers of human testers and can be undertaken at any desired time.

Database Stress Test
Using Benchmark Factory by Quest Software we can simulate up to 2.000 concurrent database application users (Oracle, SQL, DB2, Sybase) and measure the impact. This stress test focuses on the database, not the application.  To prepare for this database stress test the most typical and most frequently occurring transactions are collected and extrapolated.  The average effort to conduct this type of stress test is 5 days.
